An art exhibition inspired by Banbury's famous lady on a white horse has opened at the town's museum.

Kasia Howard

It is the first half of Outside Over There, which features digital artwork by Great Bourton artist Kasia Howard and students at the town's Animation Station.

Mrs Howard's work is on show for the first leg of the exhibition which opened on Saturday (April 12). The Animation Station takes over on May 24 with the first screening of a new rural animation project.

Mrs Howard drew inspiration from Celia Fiennes of Broughton Castle -- who many think was the lady on a white horse in the nursery rhyme Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross. In 1682, Celia Fiennes travelled on horseback through England. Mrs Howard said: "After reading her journals, I made a point of visiting some of the places she wrote about."
