Carterton residents got together for a day of fun and action.
The event at the social centre in Alvescot Road included stands and exhbitions by local schools, businesses and groups.
Firefighter Philippa Hall is pictured showing James Jones how to use a hose.
The Community Action Day was part of the town's "healthcheck" scheme.
About 30 local groups are part of the initative, which focuses on how to deal with developments, transport and community issues.
An exhibition showed how far the groups had got.
Plans and drawings for the town's new leisure centre, due to open later this year, were also on public display.
Healthcheck co-ordinator Catherine Chater said: "We have had loads of interesting ideas put forward.
"But the big issue is the town centre and how it should be developed."
