Monopoly and May Morning may seem like an unlikely combination, but these would-be revellers are hoping to make it a game worth playing.

Rob Pabst, of Abingdon, will join half a dozen friends with the aim of downing an early morning tipple at each of the 26 locations found on the Oxford version of the world's most famous board game.

Mr Pabst is pictured, centre, with Matt Donaldson, left, and Matthew Giles, who will join him in the pub crawl.

Mr Pabst, 35, a facilities manager for MEPC -- the company which runs Milton Park, near Abingdon -- said if the stunt proved successful, he and his friends would consider seeking sponsorship for their efforts in the future.

He said: "We all used to work together and tend to go out on May Day to have a few drinks. But we missed it last year when I got married.

"Most of us are still local, although one friend is coming from Portsmouth.

"The only rule is that we all have to have a drink of alcohol at each stopping-off place. The difficult ones are going to be the Randolph Hotel and Oxford University."
