Torquay goalkeeper Arjan van Heusden has promised his old club Oxford that the Gulls will be trying their utmost at Lincoln this Saturday.

It's a game Oxford United need them to win if Ian Atkins's team are to have any hope of reaching the play-offs.

Van Heusden, 30, who spent two months on loan to Oxford from Port Vale in 1997, insists Torquay will be playing for pride after their devastating 3-2 home defeat by Carlisle last Saturday ended their own play-off hopes.

"We want to finish on a high note and anyone who knows me, knows I want to win every game," he said.

"We'll be doing our very best to win it for our own personal pride, and for our supporters who make the long journey to Lincoln."

Van Heusden, who has played in Torquay's last ten matches and has just signed a new two-year contract, says he knows his Oxford counterpart Andy Woodman through playing against him several times over the years.

"I also know Powelly and Bobby Ford from my time at the Manor, but I know it has all changed there since then."
