New Banbury recruit Steve Beck has been called up by Oxfordshire to face Oxford University in their warm-up game in The Parks on Friday.

The all-rounder gets his chance after joining the Home Counties Premier League club from Buckingham.

Oxfordshire skipper Keith Arnold explained: "He was registered for Bucks, but now he has moved to Banbury we are going to have a look at him."

Also included is Richmond all-rounder Charlie Knightley.

Arnold added: "I am looking at the University game to play as many players who are likely to be involved in the one-day side later in the season.

Oxfordshire, who opened their programme with an encouraging 53-run victory over Oxford & Horspath last weekend, are also in action on Saturday with a friendly at Banbury.

Teenagers Andrew Hemming (Shipton-under-Wychwood) and Calum Taylor, who has joined Banbury from Oxford Downs, are given debuts.

Arnold added: "They were in the academy side last year and we want to look at all the academy lads with a view to the under 21 competition later in the year."
