Jo Corkish, Burford's promising 18-year-old golfer, captured the Oxfordshire Ladies Championship with an exciting 3 & 1 victory over defending champion Julie de Vere Hunt at Caversham Heath.
Corkish, who lost most of the sight in her right eye four years ago after an accident, won the first three holes in Saturday's encounter, but then proceeded to lose the next three.
Both went out in four-over par 41 strokes to stand level after nine holes.
But then Corkish made her move, winning four of the next five holes to stand four up with four to play.
De Vere Hunt, who plays at The Berkshire but is an independent member of Oxon Association, won the 15th and 16th holes, but twice found the water at the 17th and conceded the match.
In the semi-finals, Corkish beat Karen Griffiths (Oxford Ladies) 3 & 1, while de Vere Hunt overcame Sarah Amos (Studley Wood) 5 & 4.
The Davies Trophy (the Plate competition to the main championships) was won by Shelley John, of The Wychwood, who defeated Linda Dowzall (Hadden Hill) 5-4.
Burford featured strongly on the qualifying day, when Nicola Sparks carded a gross 152 for 36 holes to win the scratch prize, while Corkish recorded 161.
The all-day handicap prize was won by Amos with a nett 143.
Second was Marie Jordan (Frilford Heath) with 150.
