A disabled woman was dragged along by a getaway car as she tried to hang on to her purse which had been snatched by thieves.

The 58-year-old victim was approached by a woman wanting change for a £20 note in Headley Way, Headington, Oxford, at about 7.30am on Thursday, May 1.

When she got her purse out, the thief snatched it and ran towards a red hatchback.

The victim, who suffers from a spinal disease, lunged at the passenger door and suffered grazes to both knees, a swollen ankle, and cuts to her hand and elbow as she was dragged along.

The thief was of mixed race, about 20, and 5ft 4in tall. She was wearing a maroon bomber jacket and khaki trousers. The driver was a white man, about 29, with fair hair.
