A new north Oxford primary school has been officially opened -- but nearly half its pupils will continue to be taught at its old site until a planning problem is sorted out.
Students at the opening of the school
Students, teachers and parents gathered to watch a ceremony marking the opening of the SS Philip and James Primary School building, in Navigation Way, Oxford.
Children attended St Philip and St James Church, in Woodstock Road, Oxford, before performing May Day dances at the school. The school's 255 pupils were due to move into the 14-classroom building in December from their old school, about half a mile away in Leckford Road.
Year Three, Four and Five pupils have been taught at the site since then, but 125 Year One and Two students had to stay at the old site.
They cannot relocate because planning permission was only granted for 180 pupils until an access road is constructed.
