Thame United 4, VCD Athletic 2: Thame cruised into the second qualifying round with this fully-deserved victory thanks to a hat-trick from striker John Mitchell.
The first goal arrived in the 12th minute. A long ball out of defence caused indecision in the VCD defence, allowing Mitchell to gather and lob the advancing keeper.
Thame went further ahead on 27 minutes, when a clearance from the home keeper deceived his opposite number, the ball bouncing over his head to leave Mitchell with a tap-in.
In first-half injury time, Enzo Silvestri won the ball in midfield and found Mitchell, who was fouled in the penalty area. Mark Jones converted the spot-kick to make it 3-0.
VCD pulled one back through skipper Paul Bates, but their hopes ended in the 71st minute when Mitchell completed his hat-trick.
Bates added VCC's second in the 73rd minute.
Thame: Smith, Avery, Merritt, Saulsbury, Silvestri, Perna (Franklin), Gardner, Mitchell, Stewart (Keen), James, Thornton.
