Berks, Bucks & Oxon League

Chipping Norton, spurred on by their dominant pack, raced into an early 19-point lead in their Division 1 match at home to Oxford and went on to record a 31-10 victory.

With good, quick ball, Chippy's backs found plenty of room as they ran in first-half tries from Aaron Tustin, Jon Hickman and Craig Korzewski. Adam Smith converted the first two.

Oxford scored a try to cut the deficit to 19-5 at the break.

In the second half, Chippy carried on in the same vein, with Smith setting up a try in the corner for Ian Waldron and then converting another by Ian Hancock.

Oxford managed a consolation try near the end.

Fresh from their previous week's heroics in the Powergen Junior Vase, Wallingford came down to earth with 28-13 defeat at home to second-placed Bletchley.

The scoreline was a repeat of the first meeting between the clubs in October - and once again it was the performance of the Bletchley forwards in the tight which made the difference.

The visitors led 7-5 at the break, Wallingford's points coming when winger Chris Jenkins scored an unconverted try wide out.

At the start of the second half, Bletchley scored a penalty and an unconverted try to go 15-5 ahead.

Wallingford rallied and an Ollie Henderson penalty was followed by a kick-and-chase try from Henry Venners.

However, the conversion in front of the posts, which would have levelled the scores, was missed.

Bletchley then pulled away for victory by a somewhat flattering scoreline.

After two losses, Littlemore returned to winning ways with a 25-12 victory away to Abingdon in Division 2.

Captain Chris Shipley, returning to the side after a three-week holiday in South Africa, led the way with a brace of tries, as the Littlemore forwards dominated.

Further tries were scored by No 8 Andy Smith, flanker Darren Massey and centre Dean Andrews, while Lee Gillett had a rare off-day with the boot, missing all five conversions and two penalties.

Harwell went down 7-3 at Pennanians in a dour encounter refereed by a female official on an exchange visit from the Devon Society.

Gary Pearce's scored the only try early on from a quickly-taken penalty, with Crosby converting.

Harwell had the edge territorially, but scrappy first-phase possession meant that neither side could create more openings.

Harwell's only points came from an early second-half penalty by fly half Andy Lee.
