Radley's Lucy Boggis set a new UK age-group points record when lifting the AAA Under 17 National Indoor Pentathlon title in Cardiff.

Boggis amassed a huge 3,590 points, beating the old mark, set in 1999 by Aileen Wilson, by eight points.

The feat was all the more remarkable as Boggis enter- ed the final event in second place behind Kingston Harriers' Dominique Blaze.

To beat the record and seal the title, Boggis had to run the 800m - arguably her weakest event - in her fastest time ever.

And she didn't disappoint, as she finished with an electrifying burst of pace to slash two seconds off her previous best, clocking a time of 2mins 31.07secs.

Her other results saw her record 8.96 in the 60m hurdles, before launching the shot to a personal best 9.84m.

She then set another best, leaping to 5.30m in the long jump, and cleared an impressive 1.68m in the high jump.

But it was her stunning performance in the 800m that took the Radley star to victory.

In the same event, Beth Hampson (Abingdon Am- blers) finished 22nd overall with a score of 2,662 points.

She clocked 9.82 in the 60m hurdles, threw 5.78m in the shot, recorded leaps of 4.53m and 1.44m in the long and high jumps, before finishing with 2.33.0 in the 800m.

In the the under 20 women's event, Abingdon's Ruth Hampson, finished 17th with a score of 2,319 points.

She ran the 60m hurdles in 10.18, threw 7.83m in the shot, recorded leaps of 4.15m and 1.32m in the long and high jumps, and finished with 2.48.0 in the 800m.

Radley's Under 15 athlete Mariska Kalmeijer finished 12th in her age group.

She clocked 10.91 in the 60m hurdles, threw 6.96m in the shot, leapt to 4.10m and 1.29m in the long jump and high jump respectively, before finishing off with 2.47.0 in the 800m.
