Growth within Oxford is long overdue (Oxford Mail, March 22).
I think most county residents would feel some sort of embarrassment towards the city.
For too long, it has relied on its architecture for tourism, but at the same time, it has appalling shops and little parking -- discouraging its own residents from visiting the centre.
It is time Oxford planners looked at northern cities for inspiration.
My friends travel to places like Birmingham for entertainment, shopping and even work, because these towns are vibrant, young and forward-thinking.
Oxford remains in the past, with little investment from big businesses to shove it into the 21st century.
