Oxfordshire 2nd survived the drop by the skin of their teeth with victory over Devon 2nd.
Needing to win at least 9-6 to secure their status in Division 2D of the Inter-County Championships, Oxon's second string did precisely that.
Liz Burns was their star performer as they sneaked past their West Country opponents 9-6 at Radley College.
On adjacent courts, Oxfordshire 1st lost 11-4 to champions Berkshire.
David Buckingham bagged a men's singles win and two doubles victories with Dave Soanes.
Oxon were safe in Division 1C going into the game.
With Oxfordshire 3rd also safe from relegation in Division 4C, it has been a good season for the county.
They have rallied round well to cope with losing six of their eight first-team players from last year.
Paul Casey and Heather Booth won all three of their games for Gosford Hill A, but they still went down 6-3 to Abingdon A in Mixed Division 1 of the Oxford & District League.
In Division 3, Redefield B's 5-4 win over Oxford Brookes came in spite of a treble from the Brookes partnership of Pete Frobisher and Becky Webb.
Redefield's loss to Windrush came through a Witney team effort, with both Dave Gardner and Catherine Evans, Minu Gulamali and Amber Barrett winning twice.
