Detectives in Bicester are hunting a conman who duped a man into handing over almost £1,000.
The 64-year-old victim was befriended in Bicester by a man outside the Somerfield supermarket at 1pm on Tuesday (March 23). The conman then escorted him back to his house in London Road.
At the house, he showed the man some coats he claimed to be selling then tricked him into handing over several hundred pounds.
The conman then asked the man for a drink of water, and while the man's back was turned, took more money from his wallet. In total, nearly £1,000 was stolen.
The conman is of Italian appearance, aged 35 to 45, about 5ft 8in tall and had short dark hair. He was wearing a dark suit, shirt and tie, and was carrying a large holdall.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Acting Det Sgt Ian Hunter on 08458 505505 or leave information on the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline, 0800 555111.
