Oxford City have snapped up Banbury United striker Mark Simms as they aim for their first victory of the season at Southern League Division 1 West basement boys Egham Town on Tuesday.
City were thumped 3-0 at home by Paulton Rovers on Saturday, and have found the net just once in their opening three games.
Assistant boss Pete Lamont, deputising for Andy Sinnott, who is on holiday, said: "Saturday was very disappointing.
"Between pre-season and now, we haven't gelled as a team and are struggling to find our rhythm.
"Something has to give at Egham, because they have also had a poor start, and hopefully Mark will make a difference to us."
