A father of two who died in a motorcycle accident was just out for a "ride around", said his grieving partner.

James Green, 40, of Kennedy Crescent, Cholsey, near Wallingford, was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, following the accident at Beggarsbush Hill between Benson and Ewelme, near Wallingford, at 5.30am on Sunday, but died later that day.

His partner of 20 years, Jane Newman, said: "He loved his motorbike and had just gone out for a ride around. We don't know the full details of what happened.

"It has been a dreadful loss."

Mr Green was an advanced engineering machinist for the Williams Formula 1 motor racing team at its headquarters in Grove, near Wantage.

Company spokesman Liam Clogger said: "He had been with us for 15 years and was a very valued member of the team. He was a great character and very well liked.

"His death has hit everyone hard, but especially his close workmates who are devastated. "He and his skills will be very sadly missed."

Mr Green and Miss Newman had two children, Jamie, seven, and Georgina, 10, who are pupils at St John's School in Wallingford.

Police said Mr Green lost control of his Honda motorcycle on a bend at Beggarsbush Hill as he was travelling between Ewelme and Benson.
