Ten streetwise youngsters from Banbury tasted life on a farm.
The young people, aged 10-13, from Bretch Hill, went to Warriner School Farm in Bloxham every day for a week and took part in outdoor activities such as gardening and orienteering.
The scheme was organised by Cherwell District Council as part of the summer programme, Positive Activities For Young People.
Jon Wild, district council young person recreation development officer, said: "The week was a great success, it was a fantastic opportunity for the young people to experience such a different range of activities than they normally take part in but are right on their doorstep. "We hope the young people take away with them lots of new skills they can use on their own estate and conservation ideas they can share with their schools and youth club."
The activities included looking after pigs and goats, and learning crafts such as bird box making, willow weaving, felt making and printing T-shirts using natural dyes.
They also tried map reading, made a camp fire and toasted marshmallows in the woods.
