Seven people were arrested during disorder surrounding last night's (Wednesday, August 25) Carling Cup clash between Oxford United and Reading at the Kassam Stadium.
There was a heavy police presence at Oxford railway station awaiting the arrival of away fans, and at the ground, including riot vans, squad cars, mounted police and officers on foot.
Attendance for the match, which Oxford lost 2-0, was under 6,000. The North Stand was reserved for Reading supporters to separate them from United fans.
The window of a bus ferrying Reading fans to the ground was smashed as supporters boarded outside Oxford Station.
Police met the bus as it arrived at the Kassam Stadium and several Reading fans were arrested.
Two Oxford supporters were arrested following a fracas in the East Stand, but police said pre-emptive action preventing troublemakers entering the ground meant the game passed without serious incident.
