Following the success of the first Oxford Folk Festival in the spring, organisers are busy preparing for a repeat next year with a series of autumn concerts to highlight the event and raise vital funds.
Big names from the folk world are already lined up for the festival on May 13-15, 2005, including duo Show of Hands, Irish band DanTM, legendary fiddle player Frankie Gavin, the Wrigley Sisters from the Orkneys, and ceilidh band Whapweasel.
Leading names are also lined up to perform at the autumn concerts -- the Kathryn Tickell Band, Irish band Last Night's Fun, Welsh wizards Fernhill, Oxford's own folk stars John Spiers and Jon Boden, and folk comic Sid Kipper, followed by popular Christmas events featuring Magpie Lane, York Waits and the Oxford Waits.
