Now Terry Sykes, one of the police officers in the hunt, is making a fresh appeal for help in his new role as a coordinator with Crimestoppers.
He is hoping that anyone with information will call the confidential crimeline, which did not exist when the murder took place.
There have been numerous cases recently where DNA and other technological advances have identified criminals many years after they committed offences.

Criminals everywhere, who thought they had got away with their misdeeds, must be shaking in their boots wondering if the law will one day catch up with them.
