SIR -- What a sad and revealing sign of the times that Alphonso and Elizabeth Allen, of Wootton, should have felt motivated to put pen to paper to praise Royal Mail merely for executing its duty (Oxford Mail, October 14).
Since they live in a close, it is hardly astounding that a card lacking their house number turned up. The workforce in Wootton is presumably more stable than in other places in the county.
