Most of us have experienced the anxiety of having a health test at some point in our lives. But no-one should expect to have to go through more by being told they have osteoporosis, only to find out later they haven't.
Worryingly, this is what happened to patients of a mobile screening firm, who despite being diagnosed symptoms of the disease, were later given the all clear at Nuffield.
The mobile firm touts its service for £30 and attracts custom as it can offer on-the-spot tests, whereas the waiting list for the NHS is seven weeks.
According to Nuffield, the mobile firm has 'missed it when it's there and diagnosed it when it isn't'. So now doubt has been added to the anxiety for these patients who had paid this firm for peace of mind. At the very least, they are entitled to that.
