Protesters against plans for the asylum centre near Bicester have fought an excellent campaign.
Backed by Cherwell District Council, they could have done nothing more to protect the interests of thousands of people in the area.
They have spent many hours of their spare time fighting the cause.
It was a disappointment, but no great surprise that the Appeal Court yesterday came down in favour of the Government.
When it is a David versus Goliath battle, the outcome is usually predictable.
Sensibly, the objectors will study the judgement and see what more can be done. But now perhaps is the time to put past battles behind them, and think of the future.
The question now is - what effect will the centre have on the community during and after construction?
Even when it is open and fully operational, there will still be much work to be done.
Villagers will need to remain vigilant, and make sure they have a strong voice if and when things go wrong.
