Oxford City 4, Brackley Tn 1: Two cracking goals from Jack Smillie eased Oxford City into the second round of the FA Trophy with a comfortable win over Brackley at Court Place Farm on Saturday.

City looked the more promising early on, but there was hardly anything to choose between the two sides until they took the lead after 22 minutes.

Andy Ballard's long throw fell into the area, where Mark Simms was given time and room to score from close range.

Brackley, mananged by former Oxford united favourite Mike Ford, then enjoyed a good spell.

Jan King was out of luck when his free kick was pushed onto an upright by City keeper Joe Caulfield, while Gary Wickens's positive header was turned round for a corner.

However, City regained the upper hand. They went 2-0 up when Martin Brown's headed clearance deep into the opponents' half was gathered by Colin Simpson, who ran through to score.

A third goal arrived just before half-time. Simms touched on a header to Smillie who scored in off the far post.

In the second half, Brackley's Kevin Slinn was just wide with a good strike.

But after 56 minutes, City went further ahead. Mark Jones played out to Smillie from a corner kick. Smillie moved forward and unleashed a fierce shot into the net.

Substitute Ben Milner scored a consolation goal for Brackley four minutes from time.

The home side were then awarded a penalty for hand-ball in the last minute, but Richard Knight easily saved Jemaine Ferreira's spot-kick.
