Midlands Division 3 East South: Three tries in the first 20 minutes sealed a 23-15 win for Banbury after Daventry came close to a dramatic comeback.

The Bulls finished their season with a home win thanks to scores from David Taylor, Sean Bannister and Barry Lalanne.

But it was the boots of Banbury'sTony Hurst and Pete Flemming that proved the difference between the teams in a physical encounter.

The Bull's 11th league win of the season saw them race into a 20-0 lead as their experienced opponents struggled to cope early on.

Daventry dominated possession for the remaining hour, but could not convert set-piece superiority into victory.

A snap drop goal from fly-half Hurst opened the scoring before energetic centre Taylor dummied and jinked his way over from 15 metres after excellent work from Rory Dymond.

Hurst's conversion made it 10-0 and flanker Bannister, playing despite a bout of gastro-enteritis, scored his 12th league try of the season.

Bannister clattered through two tackles to dive over after 15 minutes and try No 3 soon followed.

Taylor then played creator as he sliced through from half way to release wing Lalanne who brushed aside his opposite number to power in for 20-0.

Daventry finally managed to convert possesion into points, scoring the first of three tries on 50 minutes.

Banbury then had lock Ali Burbidge sin-binned, but hit back with Flemming's penalty to complete a league double over Daventry.
