BB&O Premier Division: Wallingford pushed league leaders Swindon far closer than the 22-7 scoreline suggested as they bounced back from a disappointing Oxon Plate final loss.

With just five minutes to go the visitors trailed 10-7, but two late Swindon tries took the gloss off a battling performance.

Wallingford fell behind to a third-minute penalty, but they recovered in fine style soon afterwards.

Centre Don Jenkins collected a Swindon fumble on their ten-metre line and fed winger Johnny Collett, who beat the home defence to score wide out.

An excellent touchline conversion from skipper Olli Henderson gave the visitors a 7-3 lead, but five minutes later Swindon were back in front.

Some dogged defending ensured this converted try was the only score until 75 minutes while Wallingford threatened in places.

Two late tries and a conversion ensured Swindon took the spoils in a tough game.

Harwell ran in 21 unanswered points to record a convincing 28-12 victory over Gosford All Blacks.

Ryan Hodnett's second try proved the turning point as the home side rallied from 12-7 down against a Gosford side missing regular half-back pairing Simon John and Mark Wingfield Digby.

Hodnett opened the scoring early on and Andy Whiteford converted the try for the first of four successful kicks.

Gosford drew level through level through a Henry Gurney touchdown and Tim Sutton's conversion before Joe Lloyd crossed for try No 2.

The second period saw Harwell come into their own and dominate in lineout as Hodnett and Whiteford took the score to 14-12.

Tries from Dave Beaven and Dougie Bosley completed the win, with Whiteford converting each.

Injuries to Gosford prop Peter Midgeley and later full back Peter Unsworth did not help the visitors' cause.

It proved a day to forget for Oxford as they slumped to an embarrassing 81-7 defeat at promoted Chipping Norton.

Littlemore, who beat Wallingford to lift the Oxon Plate the week before, ended their season on a disappointing note with a 23-15 loss at Farnham Royal.
