Oxford Utd Res 2, Aldershot Res 0: Oxford United's young player of the year Craig Davies celebrated his award by scoring both goals in last night's Pontins Combination game against Aldershot, played behind closed doors at the Kassam Stadium.
With the Court Place Farm pitch waterlogged, the game was hastily rearranged, as both sides were eager to get the fixture played.
The breakthrough came on 25 minutes as Davies drilled a low shot past keeper Glasspool from 18 yards.
United dominated the rest of the half and continued to call the tune after the break.
Glasspool kept his side in the game with some fine saves until the 63rd minute, when Davies latched on to a short back pass and waltzed round the keeper to finish with ease in front of watching head coach Horacio Rodriguez.
Oxford Utd Res: Clarke, Kennett, Molyneaux, Gunn, B Weedon, McCoy (Harris 82), Burton, Karam, Parker, Davies (Winters 77), Beechers. Sub not used: Oldfield.
