A former nurse has been charged with two counts of murder following the deaths of two patients at Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Benjamin David Geen,, of Orchard Way, Banbury, will appear at Banbury Magistrates Court this morning (May 20) charged with murder and four counts of Grevious Bodily Harm. A police spokesman said: "The murder charges relate to the deaths of David Onley, 77, from Deddington and Anthony Bateman, 67, from Banbury, who died at the Horton General Hospital in Banbury in January 2004. The GBH charges relate to a series of unexplained respiratory problems at the hospital in January 2004." Geen was charged in November 2004 with 12 counts of Section 18 GBH.

A spokesman from The Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS trust said: "We have worked closely with the police throughout their enquiry, and will continue to do so throughout the legal process."
