HUNDREDS of people with antique treasures visited Oxford’s Sheldonian Theatre today, hoping to appear on a TV show.

Film crews from BBC2’s Flog It! were filming at the theatre in the hunt for valuable collectibles.

Organisers were aiming to find about 30 items which could be put up for auction in Watlington in April. And visitors obliged by bringing along everything from silverware to old football programmes.

Presenter Paul Martin, pictured with an antique ink stand, said: “It has been fabulous. I have seen a pocket watch which is worth £1,000, which is quite special, and we have seen fine art, ceramics and all the usual suspects.”

Antique owners waited for more than an hour to talk to the experts.

While some people were hoping to make money from selling their items, others wanted to find out more about treasured heirlooms.

Three programmes are expected to be made from today's filming.
