Sir – Last year you printed two letters from me pointing out that, when the digital switchover came, it would be found that signal strength on ITV 1, Channel 4, and Channel 5, as well as on certain other non-BBC channels, was not strong enough in this area. These are the very same channels that Digital UK are now working on (Major disruption to viewing, February 18).

That is fine, of course, but it would be so much better if they had admitted that the signal was too weak; and announced in advance what they were going to do about it and the likely temporary effect of their actions, not least to the professionals who had to deal (themselves quite in the dark) with so many complaints.

It comes in for a lot of criticism, but the county council always announces its disruptive roadworks in advance wherever possible, to bus companies and to the public.
