IN ANSWER to the question about the Marston Royal British Legion’s tax bill (Oxford Mail, February 11), I can confirm it was the result of the club selling its land in 2005/6 to enable it to build a new clubhouse.
I would like to add that the previous committee was in the process of dealing with the situation along with other measures to put the club on a more business-like footing, with the help of RBL’s finance services, but unfortunately a vote of no confidence was brought against them so that was the end of all their hard work.
