I WRITE in reply to your article No jail for £42k benefit cheat (Oxford Mail, February 27).
Over the past few months, there have been quite a few people caught cheating the system, but I think this one has to be one of the best yet.
The thief got an 18-month suspended jail sentence, so we can forget that part as punishment.
They were also ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid community work.
Now eight hours a day into 80 hours, means just 10 working days to be completed.
That means she only has to do 10 days’ work in return for cheating the system out of £42,000.
I don’t know about anyone else, but if there is anyone out there who wants any work done ‘free’ for 10 days, I would be glad to oblige.
Providing, of course, I can get hold of the initial £42,000. Any takers?
