Police are appealing for witnesses after two burglaries at neighbouring properties in Bicester.

Between 8.45am and 12.50pm yesterday, burglars forced their way into a property in Chapel Street through a rear door and carried out an untidy search, before stealing several hundred pounds and some jewellery.

A neighbouring property was targeted between 7am and 4pm, with the burglars once again entering the property through a rear door and carrying out an untidy search before stealing several hundred pounds.

Det Insp Steve Duffy said: “We believe these burglaries are linked to another series of burglaries in Cherwell last week.

“All these incidents have involved the burglars forcing or smashing their way into properties through downstairs windows and doors.

“The burglars are then carrying out untidy searches and stealing smaller items, such as jewellery and cash, and avoiding the larger electrical items.

“I would appeal to anyone with any information about these burglaries to contact us as soon as possible.

“I would also urge people to be vigilant to any suspicious behaviour they see; the public is our eyes and ears and we need them to let us know about what is going on in their communities.

“People should also ensure that access to the rear of their properties is as secure as possible. Make sure that gates are locked and all windows and doors are as secure as possible.”

Anyone with information about the burglaries should contact Det Insp Steve Duffy via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505, or alternatively contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
