Sir – The prestigious Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre is supported by volunteers who form the NOC Network Steering Group and the Patient Liaison Group. What’s the difference between the two?
The PLG is closely involved in patient care through inspections, surveys, etc. The Network SG looks more to future developments, changes affecting services to patients, and research. Both work closely with the trust board and the chief executive. Neither is a ‘talking shop’.
Both offer chances to learn about the complexities of hospital life and contribute to maintaining excellent services to patients.
After years of intense activity, both groups require new blood to help make major contributions to the hospital. Experience as a patient is not essential but ex-patients would find either group a rewarding chance to ‘give something back’.
If you would like to know more about the network please telephone Sue Woollacott on 01491 832457, or about the PLG, Monique Wilkinson on 01235 851131.
Anyone willing to help will be warmly welcomed. That’s a promise.
Geoff Feasey, North Leigh
