Sir – In my back yard — that’s where I want a swimming pool: in Cowley, as is the case at present. It is also what is promised under the Oxford Local Plan 2001-2016: Policy SR.1 — Protection of Indoor Sports Facilities.
In addition, the current proposal to remove such a facility from Cowley and considerably enlarge the existing Blackbird Leys pool flies in the face of a number of statements made in the Core Policies and Location Policies of Section 2 of the same document. How can the council justify depriving Cowley and East Oxford of a much-used facility?
