Thames Valley Police issued these road safety tips to motorists:
- Stopping distances in snow and ice are four or five times greater than normal – so slow down and leave more room
- Drive smoothly, using gears rather than brakes to slow down
- Clear windows and lights of snow and ice.
- Delay non-essential trips
- Pack warm clothes, a mobile phone and charger, shovel, food and drink, and fill the tank with fuel.
