Police today appealed for witnesses after two houses were broken into in Witney over the weekend and cars were stolen.

Homes in Eton Close and Manor Road were broken into overnight between Saturday and Sunday.

Thieves made their way into the house in Eton Close and stole several Nintendo Wii games and took a set of car keys from a hook just inside the door to steal a white Volkswagen Polo.

At the Manor Road property, two mobile phones were stolen, along with a handbag containing car keys and about £30 in cash.

A green Volkswagen Golf GTI was stolen from outside the property.

Det Sgt Rob Hughes said: “We would urge anyone with any information to come forward and speak to us as soon as possible, or anyone who may have seen either of these cars in the area on that evening.

“I would also like to remind people to be vigilant to this type of offence. Remember to put your keys somewhere safe and out of sight when you go to bed.

“Ensure that your properties are as secure as they can be and that all windows and doors are fastened and locked.”

Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Rob Hughes via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505, or alternatively you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
