The cold start to the new year continued today with temperatures in Oxfordshire falling as low as minus eight degrees centigrade overnight.

That was the temperature at RAF Benson near Wallingford overnight and it was minus -6C at RAF Brize Norton.

The temperature today will not get much above freezing, according to Met Office spokesman Andrew Kimber.

“There will be a bit more cloud tomorrow so temperatures might reach one of two degrees and it’s going to stay very cold for the rest of the week,” he said.

“There could be some snow in Oxfordshire tomorrow morning but it will be snow flurries rather than anything too disruptive.”
