THOSE of us who believe in global warming should heed the following advice.

It has been said that the climate here is warming up so that grapes can be grown here. But, while I know that some vineyards locally do produce a fair vintage, it is too expensive and there is not enough made.

Instead, we should only buy wine from countries which are close by, like France, Italy and Spain. That will save you money and help combat global warming.

Some New World wines are brought here by tanker, then bottled in this country for the shops.

That involves a long voyage on a ship, then transport by road to a bottler, then to your local supermarket.

We should avoid them. It doesn’t make sense.
