POLICE officers used a Taser stun gun to subdue a man this morning.

At about 3am officers were called to an address in Westbury Crescent, Rose Hill, following reports of a disturbance.

When officers arrived they were confronted by a man, aged in his 40s, who was armed with a knife.

Ch Supt Brendan O’Dowda said: “Taser was deployed and the man was disarmed and arrested.

"He was taken to the JR2 Hospital where he has undergone surgery for a stab wound. His condition is described as serious.

“The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission and post incident procedures are now in place to provide support for all those involved.”
