THE United Learning Trust (ULT) has withdrawn its plans to turn Oxford School into an academy.
The trust has withdrawn its sponsorship for the Oxfordshire school and another in Northamptonshire to concentrate on it's existing academies.
Schools Secretary Ed Balls said the trust had informed ministers of its decision, but added new sponsors would be attempted to be found for both of the affected schools.
Oxford East MP Andrew Smith said: "This is good news for Oxford School, and all who have campaigned for its future. ULT’s decision confirms the doubts local people have voiced."
