A PIECE of public artwork in Carterton has been selected for an international exhibition.
The Carterton Lily Pond mosaic, part of the Tower Square refurbishment carried out last year, will be included in the Mosaic Arts International 2010 exhibition, at The Smith Museum of Stained Glass at Navy Pier, Chicago, Illinois.
The project was funded by the People’s Millions Lottery and undertaken by mosaic artist Gary Drostle.
Carterton mayor Maxine Crossland said: “We are absolutely delighted to have this recognition for a project which involved a large number of members of the community and which has enhanced an important area in the town centre.”
The exhibition is a world showcase for mosaic art and is organised by the Society of American Artists (Sama).
Sama received entries from more than 250 artists in eight countries, with just 48 pieces selected for the exhibition. It will be on display from March 1 to April 30.
