Sir – Oxford councillors, in their wisdom, have decided to increase the charges for parking in Oxford. How short-sighted is that? Parking in Oxford is more expensive than anywhere else and now it is to cost even more.
Now that Witney has got so many major shops and free car parking, people will come to Witney rather than go all the way to Oxford. The A40 is a nightmare and that combined with expensive car parking puts most people off going to Oxford anyway.
I am surprised the shops in Oxford are not protesting against these increases as it must affect their trade.
