Police officers are to get their own Facebook pages to enable them to chat with residents and youngsters who live on their beat.
The idea is the brainchild of Thames Valley Police which also hopes to put ‘real-time’ news and information online via internet site Twitter.
The official forcewide Facebook page which uses status updates to mention promotional news and campaigns will be launched tomorrow.
Ass Chief Con Steve Rowell, of Thames Valley Police, explained the force wants neighbourhood officers to have their own Facebook profiles to chat with ‘Friends’ who live on their beat.
