Sir – I refer to the letters on November 19 and 26 about cycling on pavements.

This topic has attracted letters for the last five years and if things continue as they are, more will appear in the next five years.

The problem is, surely, that since the law against cycling on pavements was passed, 30 million cars have been added to our roads and the people in them make far less use of pavements.

Our roads are no longer fit for cyclists and the law is no longer fit for purpose. May I therefore suggest that a review of this law is long overdue?
