MORE than 5,000 bulbs are lighting up one house, bringing Christmas cheer to an Oxford estate.
Jason and Sarah Sherriff, pictured in front of their house in Jack Argent Close, Greater Leys, with daughter Hollie, five, have put up dozens of illuminations to mark the start of the festive season. The couple have put up their display for the last seven years – and always get a good reaction from the community.
Mr Sherriff, 35, a bus driver, said: “I like the look on children’s faces when they come into the street – they’re amazed. Christmas is for the kids after all. Even with the recession, it’s nice to do something like this.”
He said the family’s electricity bill did go up — but insisted it only cost them about £60 extra. He added: “It’s worth it.”
