A SCHOOL in Wantage has been given the green light for the final stage of improvements worth £5.2m.
Work to modernise Fitzwaryn School, for youngsters with learning difficulties, has started and Oxfordshire County Council has approved funding for a second phase to build a £3.2m centre for post-16 education.
The first phase, which includes the replacement of temporary classrooms and a new sensory theatre, is due to be completed in the new year.
There will also be a new foundation stage classroom, four key stage classrooms and modernisation of art, design and technology and food technology areas.
Headteacher Barbara Harker said: “Staff and pupils are eagerly awaiting this new development which will move the school into the 21st century.”
