FOUR boys have proved themselves to be among the best read — and coolest under pressure — in the country.
Wheatley Park School pupils, from back, Theo Howe, Matt Foster, Huw Arnold and Kit Rasmussen, all 12, defeated 14 other teams from all over the country to win the UK final of the Kids’ Lit Quiz and got to meet TV comedian Harry Enfield, pictured with them.
In all, 350 teams across the country took part in the contest, which tests knowledge of children’s literature.
After winning the Oxfordshire and Berkshire heat on Monday, the quartet romped home against the other regional finalists in a nail-biting final at Oxford Town Hall today.
Wheatley Park headteacher Kate Curtis said: “They’re very well-read boys. I’m really proud of them and it’s all very exciting.”
The team will now pit their wits against teams from all over the world at the international final in Edinburgh next summer.
