We are only a week away from the annual Christmas Tasting for The Oxford Times Wine Club and I hope you have the date in your diary. As always we will be showcasing a selection of wines from all over the world — including club favourites, lovely wines for Christmas and the obligatory (and delicious) port for that slice of festive stilton.

There will be plenty of people on hand to talk you through the wines, offer advice or information if you want it. We are also very happy to leave you in peace if your preference is to work your way through the wines quietly.

The major difference this year is that we’re holding the tasting at the centrally located Corner Club (www.thecornerclub.co.uk). This private members’ club is situated in Turl Street (just off the High Street) and is fantastically easy to get to.

It is a venue we have used all year for our very successful wine dinners and it has proved popular.

I am also very pleased that the very lovely Robin from The Granary in Watlington (www.granarydeli.co.uk) is joining us this year. He will be bringing along a selection of his stunning cheeses for you to sample on the night. His shop is a personal favourite of mine and I can personally vouch for the quality of his cheese.

In short, it is a great opportunity to come along and sample some great wines and cheese in your preparations for Christmas.

As always, you can place orders on the night and wines will be delivered direct to your door shortly after.

And, if all of that is not enough to tempt you then hopefully you can be swayed by the fact that there’s a 15 per cent discount on any wines ordered on the night.

Tickets for the tasting are £5, refundable on purchases of 12 bottles or more, and you can book by contacting Theo Sloot at The Oxford Wine Company theo@oxfordwine.co.uk or 01865 301144.
