On a wind swept and rainy Sunday morning, Tower had to battle all the way to secure a place in the next round of the cup.
The first ten minutes were hard with heavy rain and gusty windy conditions but both teams were coping well.
Tower were first to score with Yassin Elouahabi working well with Harry Cornforth who fired home to make it 1-0. St.Edmunds then pushed hard for an equaliser, winning consecutive corners but the Tower defence stood firm. A further opportunity came St.Edmunds way but the shot went over the top. With half time approaching Tower then made it 2-0 with a quality finish from Jamie Harris after the St.Edmunds keeper had initially made two fine saves. Half time score 2-0.
The second half was an excellent cup game with St.Edmunds scoring early with Mason Curtis finding the back of the net to make it 2-1. Tower Hill needed a third and Luke Bolley was unlucky with his strike that went just past the post but they didn't have to wait too long with Luke Turner finishing from close range for Tower's third. St.Edmunds were not giving up though and pegged Tower back again with Kieran Dawson scoring their second.
The last fifteen minutes were evenly contested with both sides fully committed but Tower managed to secure the win with another excellent finish from Jamie Harris.
This was a typical cup game with plenty of goals played in tricky conditions with Tower just edging a determined St.Edmunds side.
